How do Epic Games Settings Work for Parental Controls and Safety?

I’m trying to understand Epic Games settings and how they can be used to manage my child’s gaming experience. What options are available for controlling screen time, in-game purchases, and chat or friend requests? Are these settings effective across games like Fortnite, and can parents adjust them remotely? I’d appreciate simple guidance or real experiences from other parents who’ve used Epic Games settings for safety.

Epic Games parental controls allow parents to control the account of a child using PIN-protect settings menu. You have an option of limiting game ratings, blocking or allowing chats and friends requests, purchase controls, and playtime. Environments are applicable in such Epic games as Fortnite and Rocket league.

Epic Games parental controls let parents use a PIN to manage chat, friend requests, in-game purchases, and screen time. Settings are managed through the Epic Games account. They help protect kids by limiting communication, spending, and access to age-inappropriate content.

Epic Games lets parents manage safety through Parental Controls in their account settings. You can set a PIN, restrict in-game purchases, limit playtime, and control chat or friend interactions. These settings help keep kids’ accounts secure and ensure they only access age-appropriate content.

As a parent, Epic Games parental controls are a decent starting point, but they have not been enough for us.

The PIN, purchase limits, chat settings, and friend request controls are useful, especially for Fortnite. But they still feel very game-specific. They do not give me enough confidence about the bigger picture, like who my child is interacting with across games, whether conversations are moving to other apps, or whether something risky is happening outside Epic.

That is why we use Koda parental controls: https://kodasafety.co/

For our family, Epic settings are the basic layer inside Fortnite. Koda is what we rely on for broader online safety across games and apps.

Epic Games parental controls allow parents to manage their child's gaming experience by setting a PIN, restricting voice and text chat, controlling friend requests, limiting purchases, and filtering age-appropriate content. Parents can also review privacy settings and manage account permissions to help create a safer online environment across Epic Games titles.
