Is Character AI safe for kids and teens to use?

My child recently mentioned using Character.AI, and I’m trying to understand whether it’s safe for younger users. I know the platform lets people chat with AI characters, including fictional or user-created personalities, but I’m not sure how well the conversations are moderated. I’ve also heard that some chats can include mature or roleplay content depending on the character.

Character.AI is not fully designed for young kids. The platform allows users (usually 13+) to chat with AI characters, but conversations can sometimes include mature topics or inaccurate information. For teens, it may be okay with parental supervision, but it’s generally not recommended for younger children.
