I’ve heard my child mention Google Messenger, but I’m not exactly sure what it is or how it works. Can someone explain what Google Messenger does and whether it’s safe for kids to use? I’d also like tips for parents on monitoring or managing messages to ensure children stay safe online.

Google Messenger is essentially a messaging app that allows users to send and receive messages, make voice and video calls, and share files with others. It's similar to other messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. As for safety, it's generally considered safe for kids to use, but as with any online platform, it's crucial for parents to keep an eye on their child's activity. I'd recommend setting up parental controls and regularly checking their messages to ensure they're not engaging with strangers or sharing inappropriate content. You can also use features like Google's Family Link to monitor and manage their app usage.

Google Messages (often called Google Messenger) is a texting app for Android devices that supports SMS, MMS, and chat features (RCS). It includes spam protection and message blocking. While generally safe, kids may still receive unknown messages. Parents should enable safety settings, monitor contacts, and discuss online communication rules to ensure secure and responsible use of the app.

Google Messages is a texting app on Android phones used for sending and receiving SMS, photos, and chats through a phone number. It is not a kid-specific app, so its safety depends on how it’s set up and supervised. It can be reasonably safe for kids if they only message trusted contacts and parents use controls like Google Family Link, but there are risks such as receiving messages from unknown numbers, spam, or inappropriate content. Overall, it can work for older kids with supervision, but it is not the best option for younger children without strict parental controls.
