What is private browsing and does it really keep my activity hidden?

I’ve seen a private browsing option in my kid's browser menu, but I’m not clear on what it actually does. Does it hide everything, like downloads, history, or information from my ISP?

I think private browsing is often misunderstood as a foolproof way to keep activities hidden, but it's actually just a means to prevent browser history and cookies from being stored on the device. It doesn't encrypt internet traffic or hide IP addresses, so it's still possible for websites and third-party trackers to collect information about your browsing habits.

Private browsing, also known as incognito mode, doesn't completely hide your activity. It stops your browser from storing data like history, cookies, and login info. However, websites can still track you through unique device IDs, IP addresses, and other means. Be cautious and use a VPN for added security.
