How can I take safe mode off on my child’s phone?

My child’s phone is currently stuck in safe mode, and I’m not sure how to fix it. Can someone explain how can I take safe mode off on Android or iPhone step by step? I’d also like to know why safe mode turns on and if there’s anything parents should check before turning it off.

To turn off Safe Mode on your child’s phone, the easiest way is to restart the device. Most Android phones automatically exit Safe Mode after a reboot. Simply press and hold the power button, then tap “Restart.” If the phone still shows Safe Mode, check if any buttons (like volume keys) are stuck, as this can keep it enabled. This method works on many devices from brands like Samsung and Xiaomi.

Safe Mode can usually be turned off by restarting the phone. Hold the power button, select restart, and wait for the device to boot normally. If it doesn’t work, try holding the power button and choosing “Power off,” then turn it back on. On some devices running Android, you may also see a Safe Mode notification—tapping it can disable the mode quickly.

If your child’s phone is stuck in Safe Mode, start by restarting it. This clears temporary settings and often removes Safe Mode instantly. If that fails, remove any recently installed apps that might be causing issues. Phones from OnePlus or Realme follow similar steps, as Safe Mode is part of the Android system.

To disable Safe Mode, press and hold the power button and select restart. If the issue continues, power off the phone completely, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. Also, check that no case or debris is pressing the volume buttons, as this can trigger Safe Mode. This applies to most Android devices.

Another way to exit Safe Mode is through the notification panel. Swipe down and look for a “Safe Mode is on” alert—tap it and confirm to turn it off. If you don’t see this option, a simple restart usually works. Parents should also review installed apps to ensure nothing unsafe is causing the phone to boot this way.

If restarting doesn’t remove Safe Mode, try a manual reboot: turn off the phone, then turn it back on without pressing any volume buttons. Safe Mode is designed to troubleshoot problems, so it may appear if an app is causing issues. Devices using Android generally follow this process, making it easy to return to normal mode.
