How can kids start learning Android Studio and is it beginner-friendly?

My child is interested in coding and recently mentioned Android Studio. I’m not very familiar with it, so can someone explain what Android Studio is and whether it’s suitable for beginners or kids? I’d also like to know how parents can help their child get started and if there are any simple resources or tips to make learning easier.

Android Studio is beginner-friendly, but younger kids may need a bit of guidance since it’s a full-featured development tool. Kids can start by learning basic programming (especially Java or Kotlin), then follow simple app-building tutorials like creating a calculator or quiz app. Platforms like Scratch or MIT App Inventor are great stepping stones before moving to Android Studio. Parents can support learning by encouraging small projects, using YouTube or beginner courses, and setting realistic goals. With patience and practice, many teens can comfortably start building simple Android apps within weeks.
