How do I change or turn off Microsoft parental controls for a child’s account?

To change or turn off Microsoft parental controls for a child’s account, an adult family organizer must do it. Sign into family.microsoft.com with the parent/organizer account, find the child’s profile, then adjust or remove restrictions or remove the child from the family group. Only adults can remove parental controls.

You have to log in to the organizer’s account at family.microsoft.com. Select the child's profile, go to "Content filters," and just toggle everything to "Off." If you want to remove them entirely, click the three dots on their tile and select "Remove from family group."

  • Go to family.microsoft.com and sign in with the parent’s Microsoft account.
  • Select the child’s account.
  • Turn off or change settings under Screen time, Content filters, Spending, or App & game limits.
  • To fully remove controls, remove the child from the family group (or make them an adult account if they’re old enough).

Sign in to account.microsoft.com/family, select your child’s account, and adjust settings like screen time, app limits, or content filters. To turn controls off completely, remove the child from your Microsoft family group.

To change or turn off Microsoft parental controls, go to family.microsoft.com and sign in with the parent account.
