How Do I Make Minecraft Safer for Kids to Play Online?

My son loves playing Minecraft, especially in multiplayer mode, but I’m a bit worried about who he might be interacting with online. I want to make Minecraft safer without completely taking the fun away. Are there specific Minecraft settings I should enable or disable? Can I limit chat, block strangers, or control who joins his world? Any advice from parents who’ve already adjusted Minecraft privacy settings would be really helpful.

  • Use parental controls: Set up a child account (Microsoft Family Safety) to manage friends, chat, and playtime.
  • Choose safe servers: Stick to well-moderated, kid-friendly servers or private realms.
  • Adjust chat settings: Disable or limit chat and multiplayer if needed.
  • Play with friends only: Allow invites only from people they know.
  • Teach online safety: Remind kids not to share personal info and to report bad behavior.
