Hi everyone, I’m looking for guidance on how to disable Instagram account temporarily. My teen has been spending too much time on the app, and we’re considering taking a short break from it. What are the exact steps to disable Instagram without permanently deleting the account? Also, can it be reactivated easily later? I’d appreciate advice from parents who have done this before.

If you want to temporarily disable your teen’s Instagram account, log into their account from a browser (it can’t be done in the app), go to Profile > Edit Profile > Temporarily disable my account, choose a reason, re-enter the password, and confirm; the account will be hidden until they log back in, but make sure you have their login details and discuss it with them first for transparency.

Open your teen’s Instagram app.
Go to Profile → Menu → Settings → Accounts Center → Personal Details → Account Ownership → Deactivation or Deletion.
Select the account, choose Deactivate, confirm password, and submit.
