Is Strava safe to use and does it share your location?

I’m thinking about using Strava to track my runs and cycling activities, but I’ve heard that the app records GPS routes and can show where you start and finish your workouts. That makes me wonder about privacy and location safety. Does Strava automatically share your location with others, or can you control who sees your activity and routes? I’d like to know what privacy settings people recommend before starting to use the app.

Strava is a fitness app used to track activities like running and cycling using GPS. It can share your route and location if your activity is set to public, but you can control this through privacy settings to keep your location private.

Strava is generally safe to use, but it can share your location depending on your privacy settings.
  • The app uses GPS to track activities like running or cycling.
  • If your activity is public, others may see your route and location on the map.
  • You can make activities private or visible only to followers to protect your location.
