I keep seeing FR used in messages and social media, but I’m not exactly sure what it means. Is it slang, an abbreviation, or just shorthand people use casually? I’ve seen it in conversations that seem serious as well as joking chats. Can anyone explain the meaning of FR and give examples of how it’s typically used in texting or online discussions?

In texting or online chat, FR stands for for real. It’s used to emphasize honesty, agreement, or seriousness in a conversation. People often use it to confirm that what they’re saying is true or to show they strongly agree with someone else. For example, if a friend says, “That concert was amazing,” you might reply, “FR, it was incredible!” It’s a casual, informal term commonly seen in text messages, social media, and messaging apps.
