I keep seeing WYO in my child’s text messages, and I’m not sure what it means. Can someone explain what WYO stands for and in what context it’s usually used? I want to understand it better so I can guide my kids safely when they’re texting online.

"Hey guys, I think I can shed some light on this one. In texting lingo, 'WYO' typically stands for 'Wildin' Out' or 'What You On' but it can be related to 'what you on' in some contexts. I'm not super concerned about it - it's just slang.

WYO means What you on? asking what someone is doing. It’s usually harmless slang, so parents don’t need to worry much, but basic online safety still applies.

WYO in texting usually means What You On? a casual way of asking what you’re doing or what your plans are. For parents, it’s not something to worry about on its own. It’s common slang among teens and generally harmless. However, like any casual messaging phrase, it can sometimes be used in conversations with strangers, so it’s still a good idea to encourage kids to be mindful about who they’re chatting with and to practice safe online communication.
