What is Character AI and is it safe for kids?

I’ve come across an app called Character AI that my child mentioned, but I’m not sure what it does. Can someone explain what Character AI is, how it works, and whether it’s safe for kids to use? Are there any parental controls or tips for guiding children while they interact with AI chat apps?

Character AI lets users chat with AI-powered characters for fun or role-play. It’s not ideal for younger kids because responses can be unpredictable or mature, so parental supervision is recommended for teens 13 and up.
