What is nonchalant meaning and how is it used?

I’ve come across the word “nonchalant” in books and conversations, but I’m not exactly sure what it means. From the way it’s used, it seems like it describes a person’s attitude, but I’d like a clearer explanation. Can someone explain nonchalant meaning in simple terms and give examples of how it’s used in everyday conversations? Also, is it considered positive, negative, or neutral?

To be nonchalant is to appear casually calm and relaxed, often showing a lack of concern, anxiety, or enthusiasm, even in situations where others might be worried or excited. It suggests an "easy coolness" of manner.
