When kids say “OTW” in messages, what do they mean?

I’ve noticed my child using “OTW” in chats and I’m not exactly sure what it stands for. Can someone explain what OTW means and how it’s typically used in texting? I’m trying to stay updated with common slang so I can better understand my child’s online conversations.

OTW stands for On The Way. Kids use it to let someone know they are coming or heading somewhere. It’s a quick way to update friends without typing a full sentence.

Kids often send OTW when they’re running late or heading out. On apps like WhatsApp or Snapchat, it helps them keep conversations fast and efficient.

Sometimes OTW doesn’t mean actual movement. Kids may use it to say something is in progress, like finishing homework or joining a game soon.

OTW is generally harmless and easy to understand. It’s simply a time-saving abbreviation, but parents can still stay aware of overall chat habits to ensure safe communication.
