Can kids use FaceTime on Android phones?

My child has an Android phone, but many of their friends use iPhones and talk about FaceTime. Is it possible to use FaceTime on Android, or are there any safe alternatives for kids to video call their friends? I’d appreciate simple options that parents can easily set up and monitor.

No, FaceTime itself doesn’t work as an app on Android since it’s Apple-only, but kids can still join FaceTime calls through a browser if someone with an iPhone sends them a link. I’ve tried this with a relative’s Android, and it works fine for basic video calls, but for regular use, apps like WhatsApp or Google Meet are honestly much easier.

Unfortunately, kids can't use FaceTime directly on Android phones because the app is only for Apple's devices such as iPhones and iPads. However, they can still get involved in FaceTime calls if an Apple user sends them a shareable link. Once they open the link in a web browser (Chrome, Edge), they can join in on the call without downloading the app. This gives them some access, but they will not have complete features like making calls or handling contacts on Androids.

FaceTime is not always compatible with Android, although children can make calls using a web browser in iOS. An iPhone user develops a FaceTime connection and sends it. Users of Android can tap the link and join without an Apple account. Functional, but with limited features, compared to Apple devices. Parents ought to monitor their use so that only correspondence with familiar individuals can be safe.
