Should I remove the UltraViewer app from my child’s laptop?

While checking parental control settings, I noticed ultraviewer on my son’s computer. I didn’t install it, and I’m unsure why it’s there. Could this be a security risk? Looking for advice from other parents about whether I should uninstall it.

If your child doesn’t actively use UltraViewer for something necessary, it’s safer to remove it since it allows remote access to the laptop and could be misused if someone gains control; unless you fully trust who has access and why it’s installed, uninstalling it reduces security risks and protects your child’s privacy.

I understand your concern about Ultraviewer on your child's laptop. While it's not inherently malicious, it can be a privacy risk. If your child doesn't need it for school or personal use, it's probably safe to remove it. This will also prevent any potential distractions or unwanted data collection.

UltraViewer enables one to use a remote control and access a computer. And in case your child does not require it to go to school or be monitored, it is safer to take it off. Unless used with caution, remote access tools can be a threat to privacy and security. You should uninstall it in the system settings and discuss with your child the reasons why it can be dangerous to use unknown remote-control applications.

Yes, consider removing UltraViewer from your child’s laptop if you’re concerned about privacy or unauthorized access. Remote-access apps can allow others to control the device without supervision. Replace it with safer, monitored tools if needed, and ensure parental controls are active. Discuss with your child why security and privacy matter online.

It depends on the usage of the UltraViewer in order to decide whether to leave it on the laptop of your child. The app will enable a person to remotely operate the computer, which can be useful in providing tech support but could be dangerous to privacy in case the computer is accessed by strangers. Removing it is safer in case your child does not need it at school or at the hands of trusted persons. It is suggested that parental supervision should be observed.

I'd recommend monitoring your child's Ultraviewer app usage rather than removing it entirely. However, if you're concerned about their safety or online activity, it's worth discussing it with them first. If you still decide to remove the app, make sure to review their laptop's settings and apps to ensure there's no accidental re-download or usage.
