What is Samsung Messages app and is it safe for kids to use?

My child is using a Samsung phone, and I noticed an app called Samsung Messages. Can someone explain what the Samsung Messages app is and how it works? From what I understand, it’s the default texting app on many Samsung devices that lets users send SMS and multimedia messages like photos and videos. I’d also like to know if it’s safe for kids, and if there are any privacy settings, spam filters, or parental controls available? I recently heard it might be getting replaced by another app, so should parents switch to something else instead? Any advice would be helpful!

Samsung Messages is the default texting app on Samsung phones that allows users to send and receive SMS and texts, photos, and videos. It is generally safe as a basic, built-in app, but it does not include strong parental controls or content filtering. This means kids can still receive messages from unknown numbers or be exposed to spam or inappropriate content. Overall, it is suitable for teens with parental guidance, but younger kids should use it with supervision or alongside parental control tools.

Samsung Messages is the default SMS/MMS app for Samsung devices. Although safe in most cases of basic texting, it does not have strong parental controls or content filters. To avoid children receiving unknown contacts and spam, parents are encouraged to keep track of usage or use third-party tools that will help avoid such risks as Samsung moves more towards Google Messages.

Samsung Messages comes pre-installed as the default texting application on a large number of Samsung Galaxy handsets. Users of this application can send a variety of text formats, including SM, S MMS, group texts, and sometimes RCS chat messages too. Besides messaging, the transmission of photos, videos, and contacts can also be done very easily. Just the app alone, howeve,r will not have very powerful parental control features. Children are at risk of being able to receive messages from unknown numbersopeningen links, or having free conversations. To promote safer use, parents can put device restrictions, block unknown senders, and keep an eye on contacts. The use of parental tools such as Google Family Link can be of great assistance in controlling texting and screen time.
