How can I sign out of Messenger on my phone?

I’m using Facebook Messenger and can’t seem to find a direct option to log out. I checked the settings but didn’t see a clear sign-out button like other apps. Is there a proper way to sign out of Messenger on Android or iPhone? I’d appreciate simple step-by-step help, especially if there’s a workaround involved.

I've had the same issue with logging out of messenger on my phone, but I finally found a solution, try going to settings, then 'apps' and select messenger, from there you can see the storage and other options like 'clear data' or 'clear cache' but what worked for me was pressing and holding on the messenger app icon, it gives you an option to uninstall updates, I uninstalled them and that did the trick, it logs me out properly now.

To sign out of Facebook Messenger:
Open Facebook → Menu → Settings → Accounts Center → Password & Security → Where you’re logged in → select your Messenger session → Log out.

Alternatively, clear Messenger app data in your phone settings.

If you want to log out of Facebook Messenger on your phone, the steps vary depending on the device type. If using an Android device, open Facebook and select Settings & privacy > Settings > Security and login > Where you’re logged in > Device > Log out. If using an iPhone, Facebook Messenger does not have the log-out option; instead, log out of the Facebook app or delete and reinstall the Messenger app.

  • Open the Facebook app (not Messenger)
  • Tap the menu (☰) → go to Settings & Privacy → Settings
  • Tap Password & Security
  • Under Where you’re logged in, find Messenger
  • Tap the 3 dots → Log out

To sign out of Messenger on your phone, open the app and tap your profile picture. Go to “Account Settings” > “Password and Security” > “Where You’re Logged In.” Find your device and tap “Log Out.” Alternatively, clear app data (Android) or uninstall and reinstall the app to sign out completely.
