How to block social media on Android?

I’m trying to reduce distractions and block social media apps on my Android phone. What are the easiest ways to do this—are there built-in settings or do I need a third-party app? I’d like to either block apps completely or set time limits for apps like Instagram and Facebook. Also, is there a way to prevent myself (or kids) from bypassing these restrictions easily? Any simple step-by-step methods would help.

You can use Android's built-in settings to block or set time limits for social media apps, which is a pretty straightforward process. Go to Settings, then Digital Wellbeing, and select the apps you want to limit, like Instagram and Facebook. You can set a daily time limit or even block them completely during certain hours of the day. If you're looking for more control, you can also use third-party apps like Freedom or SelfControl, which can block apps across all devices. To prevent bypassing these restrictions, consider setting up a PIN or password for these settings, or using a parental control app that allows you to monitor and control app usage remotely.

Yope is most often safe and valid, however, it has issues with privacy, average safety ratings, and other risks such as over sharing, thus should be used with care.

To block social media on Android, use Digital Wellbeing to set app timers or enable Focus Mode to pause selected apps. You can also install parental control or blocking apps, or restrict access through your router. Disabling notifications and removing apps entirely can further reduce distractions and improve productivity.

Another option is using third-party blockers or adjusting router settings to restrict specific websites across your network.
